Sketch dump! (Updated 28/03)

I'm trying not to get bored with my own comic (since I think that's one of the reasons a webcomic can suddenly end Sad

) so, hoping nobody will mind, I'm going to put up my doodles in here, and other things that I can think of Mr. Green grin

Bloopers/other stuff, and completed art will still be put in the site, but to save on space I'll put my sketches in ImageShack and show them here ^^ Plus, this forum is semi-private, since there's not much people here, so I can pretty much post as many incomplete/too-lazy-to-finish pics as I want Twisted Evil

I'll put all the images in this first post (deleted the original ones for neatness), so it's easier to find them. If I run out of space then I'll make another post. Most recent posts are at the top, in bold! I've put the "Character Battle" mini comic in a separate section because that's ongoing, for now. Hope it doesn't look too messy for you guys ^^;

Mini comic: Character Battle!

A mini comic that has nothing to do with the story whatsoever. I dragged the characters away from where they are, took off their collars so they can hurt each other, and put them in a random place. This is mainly so I can practice drawing fighting scenes and angles - although nothing much is happening at the moment >_>. I don't know how many pages I can come up with, but let's see how long I can go.

This is a picture of Kai and Nevia as kids. Kai's upset that his father still hasn't come back, and Nevia is trying to make him feel better ^^ (click for a bigger image)

These are rejected scenes. Look! There was supposed to be another bounty hunter, but I kicked him out! XD Kai looked VERY young on that first panel...

Um, this has nothing to do with the comic, but I'll post it anyway: this is a tattoo design I did for a friend ^^

asham how neither one of these is remotly close to being spelled right... but you get the point.. the script throwaway just screams to be a "this is how i make my strip tutorial"

Thanks Kadoshi XD It definitely looks better as a thumbnail - you can see how thick the lines are in fullsize >_<;

Hm, okay, I'll do a tutorial. It can't be a page from the comic though since you'll see those soon enough (it's almost April Mr. Green grin

), so I'll have to make up something...

XD You just made my day, Zhone. They look great - I love the sword! I hope you can wait for the tutorial because I just realised I'm not too organised to start one >_<; I tried making it and then gave up...

Kadoshi, that's exactly what my sister said about Duran's last panel XD She also said the poise was kinda cliche and suggested he put up his 'other' finger instead... I was tempted to, but decided against it Mr. Green grin

no prob deiz.. it's always a joy to color work that i really think is awesome. don't worry about the tut.. i tried doing one once before and found it was way more difficult then it looks

Which one in partular do you want me to focus on? The way I CG or how I go about making a page? Cause the trouble I'm having is how much information I should put on the tutorial...

well.. i remember seeing a quick example of how you cg before... i think??? was that u? i could have swore it was... oh well... i think you should do the tut on how you set up the pages and the process of putting a page together.... i'm currently drawing a naruto fanfic and i think that's got to be the hardest part for me anyway!

This isnt wholely related but wooow, You've really shot up recently ^__^ Go Deiz I love your new stlye and your background have heaps of detail.

Colour's great too, I'm still sorely lacking in that department myself.

Well, I don't remember doing an example of how I CG so I don't think it was me ^^; I'll do a page tute then, and it will probably be easier since the one I gave up on was focused on that Mr. Green grin

Thanks, Blox! I'm really glad that I'm improving and that people are noticing XD I'm proud of my BGs too - I remember in the past when I was really lazy with them.

Re-reading all the chapters of FA is so memoriable. There were like, No backdrops to show! And it is also very cool to see the improvment throughout the chapters. I mean, in the very first chapters, Deizy didnt even use photoshop! It was just pencil(or so it looks like). I had completly forgotten that Serith was introduced so long ago o_O

Yep, I didn't even have Photoshop back then XD I think I had another paint program to clean my pages and do the lettering. I also attempted to CG some of the pages, and on some I also shaded with the pencil... I experimented with a lot of things because I was new to it all Mr. Green grin

I think it's good to experiment - that's how you start developing your skills and find your own style ^^ It was probably around Chapter 6 that I tried out Photoshop... I don't remember, cause even then I also stuck with my old program for awhile, so I was combining them...

I'm still embarrassed to look at my old work from back then ^^; I keep saying this but: someday I'll redraw those damn pages XD

Do you think Serith has changed since then, Kadoshi? ^^

He looks less girly now. I think his hair has more detail too. He has a pointier chin, and a much wider chest. Actually all the guys have wider chests now, making them look a ton stronger than before. Its great to see improvement in anatomy!
